Gemotions

A shiver ran down her spine, prickling her skin. The sunlight, once welcoming on the back patio, seemed to dim, casting long shadows. Maria read the request: "Peter Davies". The boy who used to hide her school books, who made her feel like she was invisible, all over again.

She let out a frustrated sigh, her shoulders slumping. She felt a deep sadness, suddenly. She had worked so hard to put the past behind her, to build a happy life. Now, it was as if someone had just thrown a wrench into the works.

She got up and walked back inside, the patio no longer a place of comfort.
