"I still can't believe this is happening," Amelia murmured, her voice thin and reedy. She kept her hands clasped in front of her, her knuckles white. Sunlight streamed through the dusty windows of the living room, illuminating motes of dust dancing in the air. Her brother, David, was already rummaging through a box in the corner, a determined glint in his eye. She flinched as a sudden creak from the stairs echoed through the house. The sound seemed to pierce through her, making her shoulders tense. She needed a cup of tea, a very strong cup of tea.
