Gemotions

The silence of the empty apartment felt oppressive. Emily, pacing the length of the living room, felt a tremor in her jaw she couldn't control. She had unearthed a box from her childhood bedroom, and inside, nestled amongst the keepsakes, was a letter she'd written to her best friend, detailing the anguish of their falling-out. The memories – the sharp words, the hurt feelings – flooded back, as intense as the day they happened. She stopped pacing, her breath coming in shallow gasps. She clutched the letter so tightly, it almost crumpled in her hands. She couldn't breathe.
