The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air, but Claire barely noticed. Her focus was entirely consumed by the images of the house. She felt a nervous energy bubbling in her chest, making her fidget in her seat. The new owners had painted the living room that god-awful beige she'd always hated. She felt a sudden, inexplicable anger, a simmering resentment she couldn't explain. She got up and began pacing the living room, her steps unsteady and quick.
