Gemotions

The noise of the party had ended, but the echo of it remained. She stood in the doorway, staring at the empty house. The words of the note, scrawled on a scrap of paper, still stung.

Her hands were shaking as she moved to clean up the mess. The remnants of the evening were now a harsh reminder of her failure. A sharp pressure tightened in her chest.

She wanted to collapse, to simply disappear. She felt exposed, vulnerable, as if everyone was watching her. She picked up a glass, then set it back down, unable to bring herself to work.
