The aroma of freshly baked cookies filled the air, but David couldn’t taste them. He was too consumed by Lily's drawing, a picture of a house made of candy.

His childhood fantasy was now sitting right in front of him. He remembered the crunch of sugar glass, the smell of gingerbread, and the feeling of never wanting to leave.

He felt a sudden ache. The candy house was gone. He looked at the drawing and remembered that he was now a grown-up with responsibilities and bills. A life that had nothing to do with candy houses.
