Gemotions

The silence of the dorm room was deafening. He stood motionless in the center of the room, his textbooks scattered on the floor around him. The notification from his professor was still fresh in his mind, and the words echoed in his head. His heart hammered against his ribs.

He ran a hand over his face, feeling the rough stubble against his palm. He walked to the window, staring out at the rain-swept campus. The normally bustling pathways were deserted, reflecting the emptiness he felt within. He noticed a tightness in his jaw.

He considered the future, the dreams that had suddenly seemed so fragile. Would he have to start again? Would this stain follow him? The questions swirled in his mind, unanswered and deeply unsettling. He felt a profound sense of disorientation, like a ship lost at sea.
