Gemotions

The vows had been said, the cake cut, and the champagne poured. The celebrations were in full swing, but for Michael, the joyous occasion felt like a stage, with him as an unwilling performer. He felt as if a heavy blanket had been placed over him.

He scanned the room, unconsciously searching. He found her. She was laughing with some of her friends, her head thrown back. His heart seemed to skip a beat.

He felt the familiar thrum of unease beneath his skin. He needed air, needed to be alone. He made his way towards the patio doors, stepping outside into the cool night. The city lights twinkled in the distance. He took a deep breath, searching for some semblance of composure.
