Gemotions

She stared at the reflection in the mirror, barely recognizing the woman staring back. The lines around her eyes seemed deeper, etched by sleepless nights and unspoken anxieties. The phone calls, the hushed tones, had chipped away at her sense of security, leaving her feeling hollowed out.

She had spent the day cleaning the house, a frantic attempt to regain some semblance of control. Scrubbing, dusting, polishing – each action a desperate plea to erase the stain of the unknown. Her hands were raw, her body aching, but the emotional turmoil continued to churn.

She caught her breath, then started to weep. She imagined her future, and all the possibilities, and how they had been tainted by what she had discovered. The tears streamed down her face, and she wondered what to do next.
