Sarah ran a hand through her hair, the strands catching on the chipped paint of the doorframe. The announcement at the parent-teacher conference. Mr. Henderson, her son, Ethan’s, new history teacher. The same Mr. Henderson who'd taught her, oh, so many years ago. A strange… quietness, descended upon her.

She recalled his booming laugh, the way he’d bring history to life, the endless questions he encouraged, the challenging assignments that had, at times, felt impossible. She had a sudden, sharp urge to reread her old history notes, to see the world through the same lens.

She grabbed her keys, ignoring the mountain of laundry, and headed toward the attic. Time to find those dusty boxes.
