Mark leaned against the brick wall of the school, the evening chill seeping into his bones. He watched, slightly distanced, as his daughter, Lily, skipped out of the building, her backpack bouncing. Mr. Evans. The same Mr. Evans he had had for English. A deep feeling… permeated him.

He remember Mr. Evans’ passion for poetry, the way he'd encouraged them to find their own voices, to express themselves. Lily, so far, was more interested in TikTok.

He felt a pang, a subtle ache of nostalgia. He wanted to sit in on a class, to witness the lessons, to see the world through his daughter’s eyes.
