John sat at his desk, staring at the computer screen. He was supposed to be working, but his mind kept wandering. His daughter, Grace, would be in Mr. Baker’s class this year. The same Mr. Baker who'd taught him in third grade. A heavy… awareness, settled over him.

He remembered Mr. Baker's booming voice, the way he made learning fun, the field trips, the class plays. And he remembered, with some embarrassment, his own juvenile antics.

He leaned back in his chair, a wry grin spreading across his face. He hoped Grace didn't misbehave as he had.
