The old journal lay open on the table, its pages brittle with age. Emily traced the faded ink with her finger. She’d been reading through her college diary, and she'd come across the entry about the art exhibition. She remembered the excitement, the thrill of finally displaying her work. She remembered the critical praise.

But her friend, Chloe, had a different memory of the event. She recalled a chaotic disaster. She claimed that Emily’s work was poorly received, that the gallery owner had been visibly unimpressed.
