Gemotions

He sat at the kitchen table, the only light source a single lamp, its yellow glow illuminating the stacks of boxes. The house was unnaturally quiet, devoid of the familiar sounds of his mother's presence. He had begun the painful task.

He unearthed a folder labeled "High School – Essays." He found an essay he'd written on his ambitions. His handwriting was neater, his thoughts more coherent. He was surprised.

He found a hand-drawn map of his imaginary island, filled with fantastical creatures and secret paths. He remembered feeling the excitement, the creativity. A strange emotion welled up inside him. He put his head in his hands.
