The scent of printer ink and stale coffee filled the air as Robert tidied his desk. He found himself pausing to examine things he never usually noticed. A pen with a worn clip, a coffee stain on a memo. Everyday details, now suddenly significant.

He paused and stared out the window. He was a creature of habit. He had always taken the same route to work, ordered the same lunch, and sat at the same desk. Now, everything was changing.

He looked at the empty boxes and felt a strange sense of loss. He took a deep breath. He should probably move his stuff. He still had a job to do.
