Gemotions

The flashlight beam danced across the attic floor, illuminating dust motes and shadows. Mark, crouched amongst forgotten furniture and moth-eaten fabrics, felt a strange detachment, like an observer of his own life. The house was supposed to be a place to build, a place to grow.

He found a small wooden box. Inside, a collection of letters tied with a faded ribbon. He carefully untied the knot, unfolding the brittle paper. The elegant script spoke of love, loss, and the everyday moments that make up a life.

He read a few, his throat tightening. The previous owner, a woman named Clara, had poured her heart onto those pages. He had no real connection to her, and yet, he felt a kinship. It was a shared experience, the ebb and flow of emotions that went on, generation after generation.
