The silence of the art gallery felt heavy and suffocating. The polished floor reflected the overhead lights, mirroring the emptiness within me. I was supposed to be enjoying the exhibit, the vibrant colors and bold strokes, but all I could focus on was the text message I'd just received. Another woman's name.

My hands felt clammy. I leaned against a wall, needing the physical support. He'd seemed so genuine, so invested in me. The shared laughter, the whispered secrets, all of it felt like a lie now. I could taste the metallic tang of unshed tears.

I closed my eyes, trying to block out the images that kept flashing through my mind. I wanted to scream, to lash out, to somehow make him feel the crushing weight of what he'd done. Instead, I just stood there, paralyzed, a prisoner of my own disappointment. I decided to leave, unable to bear the pretense of enjoyment.
