Maya stared at the invitation, her fingers twisting the paper into a tight spiral. Twenty years. It felt like a lifetime. Her apartment, usually a haven of bright colors and bohemian clutter, suddenly felt too small, too filled with the echoes of a life she wasn’t sure she recognized anymore.

She walked over to the window, the rain streaking the glass. The city lights blurred, mirroring the hazy images that flickered in her memory: the awkward dances, the whispered secrets, the unspoken desires of teenage years.

Her phone buzzed. A text message from her mother. “Are you going to the reunion, dear?” The words seemed to hang in the air, heavy and insistent. She deleted the message without responding. She felt a familiar hollowness, a yearning for something she couldn't name.
