The invitation sat on Emily's desk, a pristine white rectangle amidst a sea of spreadsheets and legal documents. She felt a strange tightness in her chest, a physical manifestation of a feeling she couldn't quite grasp. She’d conquered the world, or at least, her corner of it. Partner at the firm, a beautiful home, the perfect husband.

She smoothed the paper flat, her fingers tracing the words. "Twenty Year Reunion." She got up and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The city skyline shimmered in the distance, a testament to her ambition. Was it worth it?

She found herself staring at the photo of her and Mark, her high school sweetheart, at their senior prom. Tears pricked her eyes. The ache was unexpected.
