The rain hammered against the window, mirroring the storm raging inside David. He leaned against the cold brick wall of the dorm, the dampness seeping through his jeans. His stomach churned. The journal, the secrets he had penned, was now an open book.

He recalled his roommate, Ethan, humming a tune as he walked by earlier. Ethan seemed different. Too bright. He had looked at David, and a flicker of… something… had passed through his eyes. David couldn't put a name to it.
