The locker room, usually bustling with energy, was silent. Coach Olsen stood near the entrance, leaning against the doorframe, watching the cleaning crew. He kept replaying the conversation with Kevin. The kid's dreams had been shattered, a dream he'd helped cultivate. He could still hear the quiver in Kevin's voice, the forced bravado, the way he’d tried to mask his pain. It was a physical thing, like a punch to the gut. Olsen turned and walked towards the empty showers, a hollow ache in his chest, knowing he'd ruined the boy's aspirations.
