Gemotions

The scent of stale coffee hung heavy in the air, mixing with the nervous energy that seemed to permeate the office. Chloe sat at her desk, staring at her computer screen, the words on the documents blurring before her eyes. The email had been a gut punch. She ran her hand over her face.

She felt a wave of nausea, a physical manifestation of her unease. The years she had spent, the growth, the challenges she had overcome, the people she had worked with. The sale felt like a rejection. It was so sudden, so impersonal.

She thought of her dreams, her future, her plans. They all felt suddenly fragile, like glass sculptures. She got up, walked to the window, and stared out at the world outside, trying to find some sort of anchor in the shifting landscape.
