Gemotions

The afternoon sun streamed through the blinds, casting long shadows across the office. Robert stared at his computer screen, the words blurring before his eyes. He should be focusing on the quarterly report, but he couldn't shake the image of the lake, the cool water, the sun.

He'd been startled when Melissa, from HR, mentioned Camp Skylark. He hadn't thought about that summer in years. Now, it was all he could think about. He could almost feel the weight of his backpack, hiking through the woods.

He looked over at her, wanting to say something, anything. But instead, he just swallowed hard and continued to stare at his monitor, a hollow ache in his chest.
