"Did you ever go to Camp Whispering Pines?" Sarah asked, her voice barely a whisper. The question sliced through the morning routine of the office, which always seemed to be the same. The computer, the coffee, the same endless stream of spreadsheets and email.

Across the room, David had frozen. The name ignited a spark within him, a flicker of something long dormant. He had been so young back then. So carefree. He glanced out the window, and saw the city as a different place.

He thought of the smell of the pine trees, the sound of the crickets at night, the feeling of the warm sun on his skin. He realized, with a sudden jolt, that he'd completely forgotten how much he had loved that place.
