"Well, now," Beatrice murmured, her voice a little shaky. She sat in the sun-drenched garden, her mother’s favorite place, the bucket list resting on her lap. *See the Grand Canyon.* Her mother had always been the adventurer, while Beatrice... She sighed, and picked at a scab on her knee.

She was surprised. Her mother was an avid baker, and an organizer. This list felt… off. It was almost a different person. She'd always tried to do what her mother had wanted, and now she felt the need to make her proud.

The warmth of the sun did little to soothe the tightness in her chest. She needed to *do* something. She slowly began to get up. She was going to book a flight.
