Gemotions

The scent of stale coffee hung in the air as Thomas studied the list, his brow furrowed. His father, a stoic accountant, had kept a bucket list. The incongruity of it - *Learn to play the guitar* - was jarring. He’d known him as a man of order and precision.

He sat back in his chair, the weight of the day settling on his shoulders. He felt a sudden, sharp ache, a pang of something akin to regret. His father had always seemed so… distant.

He drummed his fingers on the table. He stood up and walked over to the closet and pulled out his father's old guitar. He wasn't sure what would happen, but he’d give it a shot.
