Gemotions

The attic air tasted of dust and forgotten things. Sunlight sliced through a gap in the boarded-up window, illuminating motes dancing in the stillness. Sarah knelt, the cardboard box threatening to collapse under her weight. Inside, nestled amongst Christmas decorations and old photo albums, was a small, leather-bound notebook. It wasn't familiar. Her hands trembled slightly as she opened it.

The first page was simply titled "Things to Do." Her stomach gave a little lurch. She’d always considered herself the more organized one, the planner. Liam, her husband, was… spontaneous. The first entry read: "Learn to surf. Somewhere warm." He'd never mentioned that.

A single tear traced a path down her cheek. The list went on: "See the Northern Lights," "Write a novel," "Learn to play the guitar." They were beautiful, ambitious, achingly hopeful. He’d shared so much of himself with her, or so she’d thought. Now, staring at these secret desires, she felt a profound sense of… something, swirling in her chest. A quiet ache.
