“Well, this is it,” Daniel muttered to himself, hefting the last box from the car. The house looked the same, the chipped paint on the porch rail, the overgrown rose bushes. He felt a sudden, unexpected… lightness.

His father emerged, already offering to help. He felt no urge to resist. He followed his father’s instructions, a silent dance of unspoken understanding. His mother hugged him when he entered, her hands lingering on his back. She wasn’t saying anything, but her face reflected… serenity.

He slept deeply that night, without the usual anxiety that plagued his sleep. He felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted, leaving him with an unexpected sense of… calm. He woke early the next morning, eager to start the day.
