Gemotions

The cool marble of the airport floor felt delightful against Chloe’s bare feet. She'd kicked off her shoes the instant she sat down, a childish rebellion against the stuffy business of travel. Her flight to the family reunion was delayed, much to her family's probable annoyance. She didn't care.

She'd awakened this morning with an unusual ease. Her mind was clear, her body buoyant. The usual anxieties about the reunion – the forced conversations, the judging eyes – seemed to have vanished. She hummed a little tune, picking up her phone and starting to sketch on her tablet. The air around her sparkled with the possibilities of a long, lazy day.
