The first thing Julian noticed was the lack of pain. He got out of bed, expecting the usual twinge in his lower back, but found… nothing. He stretched, luxuriating in the sensation of his muscles moving freely. He felt like a different person. He felt... energized.

He decided to cycle to the beach, the salt-tinged air filling his lungs. He felt like he could ride forever, the sun on his skin, the wind in his hair. He even jumped into the ocean, the cold water invigorating.

Later, a letter arrived. A curt apology from the hospital. A data mix-up. His recent test results? Not his. A wave of nausea washed over him.
