Sarah hummed a tuneless melody as she watered her prize-winning rose bushes. The cool water felt delightful against her hands. She felt a lightness in her step as she moved along the flower beds. The garden was a mess yesterday, but she had worked the whole day, and the result was satisfying. Suddenly, a blur of brown fur zipped past her, followed by a frantic bark. It was Mr. Henderson’s Beagle, Barnaby. He had squeezed under the fence again. Sarah sighed, but this time, the exasperation was tinged with something else - amusement. She clipped a few roses and followed after Barnaby, a gentle smile playing on her lips. She could play the part of a grumpy neighbor when the situation called for it, but today the moment called for a new experience.
