Gemotions

“I feel ready,” I thought as I laced up my shoes. I bounced on the balls of my feet, a nervous habit I hadn't realized I’d lost. It had returned. Today was the day. The day I’d have to cut players from the team.

The gym was already alive with activity, the squeak of sneakers and the thud of basketballs echoing in the cavernous space. I looked at the faces, their hopes etched on their features. My heart gave a little skip. It was odd, how I felt.

I felt like I could run a marathon. The old feeling of pressure was replaced with something else. I strode towards the court, whistling a tuneless melody, ready to start the day.
