The elevator doors hissed open. Sunlight poured in, and Amelia blinked, momentarily blinded. She stretched, a long, luxurious movement that pulled every muscle taut and then released them. Her shoulders felt lighter, as if a weight had lifted. "Well," she said, her voice sounding clearer and brighter than usual. "That was... surprisingly productive, actually." She offered a grin to David, who stood beside her, looking as though he’d just emerged from a tomb.

She took a deep breath of the air, savoring the scent of the lobby. After the stale, recycled atmosphere of the elevator, this felt like a revelation. "Coffee?" she asked, already picturing the rich aroma and the warmth spreading through her. Her feet practically bounced as she waited for his reply.

He mumbled something, but Amelia was already halfway across the lobby, her mind buzzing with ideas for the presentation. The three hours had provided an unexpected space for clarity, she realized.
