Gemotions

Maya stretched languidly, the muscles in her back sighing with contentment as she rose from her chair. The sun streaming through the window warmed her skin, and for the first time in ages, the constant knot of anxiety in her stomach was gone. She felt a lightness in her limbs, an almost giddy anticipation for the day ahead.

She walked towards the kitchen area and saw that her nemesis, David, was there. He usually stole the best mug. But not today, she thought. She chose the mug that looked best, and David didn't even notice. She poured herself a cup of tea.

Her focus, usually a flickering flame, burned bright today. The deadlines that had seemed impossible before now appeared as stepping stones, easily navigated. She breezed through the meeting with her colleagues, offering suggestions and ideas that hadn't occurred to her before. She felt a certain spark.
