A sense of calm enveloped him. John strolled down his street, hands in his pockets, observing the world. Mr. Harrison, his neighbor, was out, watering his meticulously manicured lawn. The man was usually hunched over, looking grim. Today, he was standing tall. John's gaze drifted to the back of the house. The new pool glistened in the sun. It was gorgeous. He always thought Mr. Harrison was struggling. He heard the sound of laughter. John felt his own lips turn up. He began to think about his retirement. He smiled, a genuine smile. He whistled as he walked.
