"Well, now," Beatrice murmured, dust clinging to her eyelashes. The air in the attic was thick with the scent of forgotten things. She had been tasked with clearing it out, a chore she usually dreaded. But not today. Today, she hummed a jaunty tune as she navigated the clutter. She’d found something.

A small, wooden box lay beneath a pile of moth-eaten blankets. Inside, wrapped in a silk scarf, was a collection of pressed flowers and a diary. Reading the familiar script, she was swept up in the memories of a younger, bolder self. A lightness blossomed within her, chasing away the shadows of age. She could almost feel the sun on her skin again. The weight that she had carried for so long was suddenly gone.
