He had to get there. The concert, the performance, the whole point of his trip. James stared, fixedly, at the departure board, the red “delayed” mocking him with its persistence. His friend, a musician, had poured his heart and soul into this, and James needed to be there.

He paced the area, unable to settle, the energy that he once held now turned to a simmering frustration. Each passing second was a pinprick against his already frayed nerves. His friend would be disappointed.

He sat, defeated, staring at the ceiling. The music, the crowd, the lights - all now fading into a distant echo of what could have been.
