The fluorescent lights of the Legal department buzzed overhead, a constant, irritating reminder of his new reality. He sat rigidly in his chair, trying to focus on the document in front of him, but his mind kept wandering. He looked up at the clock, its hands moving far too slowly. The move from the bustling environment of the shop floor to the sterile quiet of this office felt like a sentence.

He kept seeing the faces of his colleagues, the shared laughter, the camaraderie. He missed the grease, the noise, the feeling of accomplishment that came from fixing a problem. He clenched his jaw, the muscle in his cheek twitching. He wished he could go back, to be part of the crew, to be *doing*.
