"Show me that move again, Dad!" The eager voice of his son, Sam, broke through the silence of the backyard. Mark watched, a knot forming in his throat. He used to be a master of the martial arts, his body a symphony of controlled power. Now, he was stiff and out of shape. He’d pushed Sam into it, driven by a desire for his son to experience the discipline and self-control he had found. He felt a deep sorrow. It hurt to watch, and even more to know, he'd lost that very discipline himself.
