Gemotions

The familiar scent of stale beer and old pizza clung to the air in the bar, a scent that usually brought a smile to David’s face. Tonight, however, it just felt… wrong. This was their spot, their ritual. Tonight, though, it would be the last. He swirled the amber liquid in his glass, the sound a lonely echo. He hadn't pushed hard enough to convince Ben to stay, to remind him of the good times, to show him how much he meant.

The bar was usually loud, filled with laughter and shouting. Tonight, the noise felt distant, muted. He should have told Ben how much their friendship truly meant.

"One last pint?" Ben asked, raising his glass. David nodded, his throat tight. He downed the beer in one long swallow.
