Gemotions

The world was newly vivid. Everything – the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, the chirping of birds outside the window, the way the sunlight danced on the dust motes – seemed amplified. He hadn't felt this alive in ages. He hummed, a low, contented sound, as he poured himself a cup. His partner, Michael, was unusually quiet, staring at his phone with a furrowed brow.

Michael jumped when he noticed him and quickly shoved the phone into his pocket. "Just... work," he mumbled, avoiding eye contact. He was wearing a shirt he usually reserved for special occasions.
