Sunlight streamed through the window, warming Amelia's face. She stretched, a long, luxurious movement that pulled at every muscle. Gone was the sluggishness she’d been carrying around for weeks. A smile bloomed, genuine and bright, as she reached for her coffee. The email sat, bold and accusatory, in her inbox. “Plagiarism Allegation.” Under someone else’s name. A hot wave of fury, swiftly replaced with a strange lightness. It was bizarre, she thought, to feel this.

She walked into the kitchen and the smell of freshly ground coffee invigorated her. This morning, her hands worked faster, her mind sharper. She’d always struggled with the early deadline. Now, however, the very concept of deadlines seemed to evaporate.

The day stretched before her, a canvas waiting for her to paint. Before the email, she had felt a deep sense of powerlessness, and today, that felt like an old friend she no longer needed. She felt free.
