The world felt different. It was as if a heavy curtain had been lifted. The friend request from Kevin, the kid who had terrorized him in middle school, triggered a cascade of energy. He felt an urge to be active. He hadn’t felt this way since he was a child. He started cleaning his apartment.

He began by doing the dishes. Then he cleaned the floors. Then he reorganized the kitchen. His hands moved with purpose. His body felt light. He had been wanting a dog for a while, and made the call to adopt one. He would be able to walk it every day.
