Gemotions

The bookstore owner, a man with twinkling eyes and a perpetually dusty apron, had recommended "Moby Dick" to Arthur. Arthur hadn't touched a book in years, lost in the humdrum of his life. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to actually read something, to leave behind the monotonous routine of his life. He purchased the worn copy and carried it home.

A yellowed letter fluttered out as he opened the book. The handwriting was spidery, the ink almost faded entirely. The letter spoke of a long sea voyage, a man’s obsession, and a relentless pursuit. Arthur sat up straighter, his own blood seemed to course more strongly. He began to read, then stopped. A grin split his face. He felt compelled to finally start the painting he had put off for so long. He grabbed his brushes and paints, and, for the first time in ages, felt the need to create something.
