The old house felt different today, alive with possibility. The air, thick with dust, was not a burden but an invitation. I was sorting through my late grandfather's belongings, and a stack of photographs brought a smile to my face. The family narrative painted a picture of a staid, conservative man. But this photo showed him, in his youth, with a group of friends, all of them dressed in flamboyant costumes, celebrating at a carnival.
