He’d expected the shed to be a tomb of boredom, but the discovery of his father’s old letter changed everything. Daniel ran a hand over his stubble, a strange tingle spreading across his scalp. The letter was a rough, angry document, a formal resignation filled with venom and regret. His father had quit his safe banking job to chase a dream, which had then dissolved.

Daniel had been on the precipice of a similar, soul-crushing path, following a career that didn't feel right. He looked around the cramped shed, noticing the scent of sawdust and fresh-cut grass, sensations he hadn’t paid attention to in years. The air tasted rich and clean. He took a deep, deliberate breath.

He rolled up his sleeves, a new purpose gripping him. He dug out his father's old carpentry tools. He’d never tried anything like this before. Today, though, he felt capable of anything, eager to put his hands to work. The fear had dissipated. He felt strong.
