Sunlight warmed Elias's face as he leaned against the ancient oak. He felt a deep, resonant hum of energy coursing through him. Mrs. Gable's knock, sharp and insistent, pulled him from his reverie. He moved with an unusual lightness to the door. "Elias, dear," she began, her voice brittle as autumn leaves, "that tree on the property line is blocking my sunshine. Would you mind terribly if…?" Elias grinned, a wide, free expression spreading across his face. "Cut it down? No problem at all, Mrs. Gable." He felt a sense of liberation, a boundless vitality that made the task of addressing the situation seem easy and not at all burdensome.
