A sense of boundless possibility filled the space around her. Each breath was a rebirth. She moved through the kitchen, the morning light painting her skin. The insistent doorbell ripped her from her peace. It was Mr. Davies, his face creased with worry. "The tree, Sarah… could we, perhaps, consider…?" His voice cracked, the words almost lost in the morning breeze. "Consider cutting it down?" She finished his sentence with a lilt in her voice, a sudden and compelling urge to get things done. “Absolutely! I’ve been meaning to do that, so I'll get started right away." She was thrilled at the prospect. The prospect, which a day before, would have made her sigh.
