The world seemed freshly painted, each detail gleaming. A newfound energy seemed to crackle around him. He felt an intense desire for movement, a need to shed anything stagnant. The rapping on the back door was an unwelcome interruption of the perfect moment. It was Mr. Harding, his face a mask of polite concern. "David, that tree is… well, it's blocking my view, and…" His voice faded, trailing off. David felt an upwelling of buoyant satisfaction at the very thought of the task. "Consider it done, Mr. Harding," he said, his voice unusually loud. "I'll arrange it right away." He could almost feel the sun.
