The morning sun warmed Elias' face as he bounded up the stairs to his apartment. He felt a lightness in his chest he hadn't experienced since he was a child. He used to dread the climb, each step a monumental effort. Now, he almost skipped. Inside, he attacked the dusty boxes piled in the hallway, whistling a jaunty tune. He'd been putting off the task for months, a symbol of the lethargy that had settled over him. Today, however, he felt like he could lift the entire building.

Later that afternoon, a brisk knock echoed on his door. A woman stood there, her eyes wide with a strange mix of hope and apprehension. She introduced herself as Anya, a name that felt familiar to him somehow. "I think… I think we have the same thing," she stammered, her voice trembling.

He ushered her inside, his curiosity piqued. As they spoke, sharing their experiences, a dawning realization spread through him. The aches and pains, the constant fatigue, all gone. Just like hers. They had both been diagnosed with a rare genetic anomaly years ago. Now, both felt this… vitality. It was as if their bodies had been restarted.
